Air & Adventure Camp

When: Diwali Christmas and Summer vacations

About organisers: Space Apple was started in 2002 Samson D’silva,

an adventure enthusiast who after working for about 10 years in corporate world, choose his passion as a career. Though the main aim was to promote paragliding, many more activities were added to cater to larger clientele. Children camps organised by Space Apple were quite popular in the initial years. From 2013 Space Apple has decided to organise three camps every year with a focus on introducing aviation adventure sports to the young generation. These camps will be unique due to Space Apple’s background and personal involvement of Samson D’silva. The core team consists of family members who are equally enthusiastic about adventure sports as well as few support staff – all of them are paragliding pilots.

Basic information: The group size will be between 5 to 10 participants
and age group will be 10 to 15 years. The camp duration will be three nights and four days. Accommodation and food will be provided at Space Apple club house. Accommodation choices include shared rooms, dormitory or tents as per preference. Breakfast and meals will be mostly home cooked with choice of vegetarian as well as non vegetarian. Menu will be decided by participants. The club house has lots of books and indoor games and open space for children. Our team members have undergone first aid training. Children will be able to speak with the parents whenever they desire.

OUR USP: 8 unusual activities apart from the standard camp stuff.

Air & Adventure Camp 2013

Air & Adventure Camp

Aviation workshop:
3 to 4 hours duration.

Making two to three different models aircrafts from locally available material. Fundamentals, basic concept of flying, control surfaces etc are explained in this workshop. Participants are given raw material and tools to make the models. They are taught how to fly them. At the end they get a few readymade models and material to make these models at home. They will get enough knowledge and experience to teach this to others if they have the desire and inclination.
Paragliding feel and control:
Weight limits 25 to 75 kgs.

Experienced instructors explain the control of paragliders followed by tethered flights up to 20 to 30 feet. Each participant will actually be flying in the air controlling the paragliders and landing.
This will be an experience to remember for a lifetime and we will capture it on camera for them.

Winch based paragliding tandem ride:
Weight limit maximum 75kgs.

This is a tandem joyride with a help of a winch. An experienced tandem pilot takes you as a passenger to a height of about 1,000 feet. You get a beautiful bird’s eye view of the area. A few 360 turns and landing then back on the ground with a soft touch down. Duration of flight is longer than skydiving – about 4 to 5 minutes from takeoff to landing without having to climb the hill.
RC aircraft and Helicopter demo:
Hands on feel and visit to workshop.

Demonstration of remote controlled aircraft and helicopter. Explanation of how aircraft and helicopter flies with movement of control surfaces. A trip to the workshop where you get to see various models and get to know how models aircrafts are made.

Power kites and stunt kites:
3 to 4 hours on the beach.

We have single line, two line and 4 line power kites. A small explanation and you are ready to feel the power of wind on the kites. You understand the power zone and lift zone of collapsible aerofoil wings. It’s a fun activity on the beach.
Parasailing:
land based on the beach.
Parasailing is done on the beach with help of a jeep. You are towed behind a jeep for about a kilometer at a height of about 150 feet. There will be a soft touch down in between to add to the thrill and experience.

Paramotoring:

Trike based paramotoring tandem flights will be organised for 10 years and above with maximum weight limit of 75 kgs.
This too will be a unique experience during this camp.

Full day Kayak camping
and terrestrial adventure sports

We will travel to a secret location. Though very close to the city it is totally cutoff from general public. This location is surrounded by big hills on three sides and a huge water body on one side. It has continuous stream of water flowing down on one side where we setup up our tents. Being a forest it has many big trees where we organise rope based activities and green meadows for group sports. We will also take them on a small tour in the forest where information about various plants and animals will be given to them. There will be some hammocks and swings and of course the huge water body for kayaking experience.
